I believe independence has long been our passion, but interdependence will be our salvation. When you work hard to surpass your expectations, everyone benefits. When you fall short, others are there to keep the momentum moving forward.

Another way to think of this: you are the SUPERSTAR starter for a popular sports team. You're a natural; you're a skilled, athletic, and real smart player. Your desire more than anything is to win this game.

So you work hard and at the end of the game the other team wins by 3 points. Does that mean you lost the game? Of course it does. But it doesn't define who you are or the effort you put forward to succeed.

You know going into the game that one team will win and one team will lose. But you accept the challenge (just like everyone else on your team) and despite the possible outcome you play the game.

As Campaign Chair for this year's United Way fund raising drive, I need everyone to be in the game, to work together and to work as a team. Our interdependence will get us to the game; our SUPERSTARS will get us to victory.
