You make a difference every day for people in East Yakima Valley...

A mother and her 32 year old son attended Merit’s Intensive Outpatient Family Program. When asked what his mother had spent on him due to his drug use, he replied “$15,000.” His mother answered “$100,000 and 2 husbands.” They left arm in arm, happy with the progress they made.

A woman in her 60’s fled an abusive husband, and moved in with her sister. The sister began to physically and verbally abuse her. She turned to Lower Valley Crisis & Support Services, and an advocate was able to help her relocate, find adequate housing, and reconnect with an old friend that helped her find employment.

Frenzy Friday with the Grandview Community Fund, serves 70 middle school youth during early release. They provide a safe place, with fun and beneficial activities. High School students that once participated, are now coming back to mentor the Middle School youth.

 

Your contribution to United Way resulted in more than 12,500 people helped by our partners last year.

 

In addition...
G2MOS area United Way programs provided:

  • Over 23,000 hours of Domestic Violence advocacy
  • The placement of 6 disabled students in workplaces allowing them to complete their Senior Project
  • The employment of 4 students because of the training
  • Over 300 hours of sexual assault prevention and education.
  • 150 hours of programming for Senior Citizens
  • Over 300 nights of shelter to victims of domestic violence
  • 322 hours of youth sports

The numbers and stories are only those that were able to be recorded and reported. These numbers are also only for the programs that United Way funds. These agencies and others serve many more in the G2MOS area.

United Way’s Community Investment Committee is committed to funding quality programs that better the lives of the people throughout Yakima and Kittitas Counties, not just those that live in the largest cities.
