It is in times of need that we discover the full impact of communities united.
Supporting Central Washington Communities During Disasters
When natural or man-made disasters strike, United Way Central Washington, in partnership with United Ways of the Pacific Northwest (UWPNW), mobilizes quickly to provide critical resources for households when they need it most. The Disaster Recovery Fund was first launched in response to the devastating 2020 wildfires that swept through parts of Oregon, Idaho, and Washington. Thousands of residents were forced to evacuate with little notice, leaving behind homes and belongings. That experience revealed an urgent need for a regional fund capable of getting resources to the communities most impacted, so we built one, and we delivered.
Today, this fund remains open year-round to ensure we are ready to support Central Washington communities facing wildfires, floods, severe storms, or other disasters.
How Your Donation Helps Locally
United Way Central Washington works hand-in-hand with our state association, United Ways of the Pacific Northwest for guidance and additional resources as well as other local disaster response teams. Every dollar donated helps provide displaced households with essentials like food, shelter, childcare, health care, and other critical services. The fund addresses both immediate needs and long-term recovery efforts.
